Boston 311

Boston makes it easy to report concerns and complaints on matters such as trash and recycling, traffic and parking, streets and sidewalks, and many other city services directly to the City with their BOS:311 program.

Telephone:
  • Boston 311 – Just dial "311" to connect to a 24-hour hotline to speak with a representative who can:
    • Handle your question or refer you the appropriate person / department
    • Enter your question / request into an electronic tracking system which allows you to check on the status at a later time
Online:
  • www.cityofboston.gov/311 -- this is the online version of BOS:311, providing access to a wide range of service requests, problem reporting, forms, permits, and applications.  A “Live Chat” option is also offered.
  • Tweet @BOS311, using a # plus the service request type, e.g., #pothole

iPhone / Android BOS:311 Application:

  • Smartphone users can download this easy-to-use free software that allows them to report common concerns and problems, adding a photo and specifying the location using the phone’s GPS.  Users can remain anonymous or share contact information and receive an update.

To report problems such as suspicious activity, loud parties (during the party), and all Police and Fire Department emergencies, dial 911 from your landline or cellphone.
