Almost 10,000 people live on Beacon Hill, each contributing to the vibrant and diverse demographic mix of the neighborhood. Some, with grown children, have lived on the Hill since they were children themselves. Others are transient and short-term: from doctors and hospital workers at MGH to students passing through for a few years of school. Beacon Hill is home to many families with children, single people and elders. All would agree that the unique mix of residents is part of its special charm and the neighborhood truly offers something for everyone.

Elders
Beacon Hill is truly unique in its approach to elder care. The neighborhood offers housing specifically for elders as well as opportunities for ongoing education and socialization. The true pioneer, however, is Beacon Hill Village. The organization has received national accolades for its distinct approach to helping persons age 50 and older who live on Beacon Hill and in its adjacent neighborhoods enjoy safer, healthier and more independent lives in their own homeskeeping them well-connected to a familiar and attentive community.
Community
Beacon Hill is bound by a strong sense of community and Hill House, a BHCA-affiliated organization, serves as the neighborhood's official "backyard in the city." Hill House offers quality athletic and creative programs to kids, adults and seniors living in Boston's diverse downtown neighborhoods. In addition, Beacon Hill Seminars offers ongoing educational services and socialization opportunities to the community. A membership organization, Beacon Hill Seminars brings together people who have a vigorous interest in continuing their intellectual growth.
