Since its founding in 1922, the BHCA has maintained its focus on the founders' original concerns - zoning, licensing, traffic, parking, neighborhood cleanliness and maintenance, while expanding its work to include the monitoring of citywide developments that impact the neighborhood, as well as the planning and execution of community-building events.
To facilitate activity and accomplishments in each of these areas, the BHCA has organized an extensive committee system to address specific issues and concerns. Each committee falls under one of four primary areas of focus: Government Affairs, Membership & Special Events, Neighborhood Affairs or Zoning & Licensing. The BHCA appoints a vice president to oversee committee initiatives in each focus area and to provide committee members with support and guidance.
